Since joining the work, he has taken oil and gas resources and development strategy as his main research direction, focusing on unconventional oil and gas resources and development trend such as shale oil and gas abroad as well as the macro situation of global oil and gas market. At present, he is mainly engaged in the international oil market situation and oil and gas trade, and the development planning and strategy of oil companies.

Presided over and participated in more than 20 national oil and gas major projects and various planning and strategic projects of the National Energy Administration, the Bureau of Geological Survey and Sinopec Group. Part of the research results of "China's 13th Five-Year Oil and gas Security measures and Paths", a project of the Energy Bureau, were used in the national 13th Five-Year Energy plan. The project "Foreign unconventional oil and gas exploration and development technology tracking" was awarded as an excellent project.

He has published 52 articles in various journals, including 28 as the first author and 24 as the second author. He has published 1 monograph (second author) and 1 translated book.
