Liu Runchao focuses on theoretical research and the development and application of technology in structural geology, petroleum geology, volcanology, and geothermal studies. He earned his Ph.D. in Petroleum Geology from PKU in 2019. During his time at PKU, he spent a year in joint training in Structural Geology at Durham University in the UK. He received his bachelor’s degree in engineering in 2012 from Jilin University, majoring in Resource Exploration Engineering (Oil and Gas). In recent years, he has led a youth fund project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and a special project funded by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. He has contributed to multiple national key projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, projects of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), and projects of Qinghai Oilfield Company, CNPC. A dozen of his papers have been published in well-known domestic and international journals, such as Geophysical Research Letters, GSA Bulletin, and Lithosphere.
