Dr. Li Xiang is currently an Associate Research Fellow at the PKU Institute of Energy and serves as the Assistant Dean of the PKU Ordos Research Institute of Energy. Before joining PKU, he held various positions, including Manager of the China Power Initiative at the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), Senior Energy Analyst in the Renewable Energy Division at the International Energy Agency (IEA), and Senior Engineer at the China Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute (CEPPEI).
During his tenure at RMI, Dr. Xiang led the organization's electricity department in initiatives related to electricity market reform, coal control, and corporate procurement of renewable energy. At the IEA, he played a leading role in coordinating two key research projects under the framework of the “China National Energy Administration (NEA) – IEA three-year work program. ” While at CEPPEI, he was entrusted by the NEA to contribute to the development of the 13th Five-Year Plan and participated in critical energy sector policy-making, earning him the NEA’s Soft Science Award in 2016.Xiang Li holds a Ph.D. and a B.Eng. in thermal engineering from Tsinghua University.
