Dr. Nie Haikuan is a Research Fellow and doctoral advisor whose research focuses on the accumulation mechanisms for unconventional oil and gas, as well as distribution prediction. He has completed 15 national and provincial-level projects, generating innovative results in three areas: strategic selection of shale gas exploration areas and resource evaluation, formation mechanisms of shale gas reservoirs and evaluation methods, and enrichment mechanisms and target evaluation of shale gas in radically transformed areas. His awards and honors include three first-class and two second-class provincial and ministerial-level awards, a Min Enze Young Scientific and Technological Talent Award, and a Huang Jiqing Geological Science and Technology Award for Young Geologists. Dr. Nie has published 145 papers, with 69 as the first/corresponding author (26 SCI-indexed and 22 EI-indexed). One of his papers is selected as one of “China’s Top 100 Most Influential Domestic Academic Papers,” another as one of “China’s Top Ten Papers on Petroleum Science,” and 13 papers are selected for “Frontrunner 5000, Top Articles in Outstanding S&T Journals of China. ” He has developed and released three corporate standards and has been awarded 10 invention patents. Dr. Nie serves on the editorial boards of journals such as Petroleum Exploration and Development, Natural Gas Industry, and the Journal of Stratigraphy.
