Zhang Chuan’s research focuses on the socio-technical complexity of energy transition, net-zero pathways and infrastructure, energy system analysis and optimization, and resource and energy strategy and policy. He follows an interdisciplinary approach to energy system analysis and optimization, aiming to  provide solutions for the complexity analysis and optimization of energy transition towards net-zero. Dr. Zhang is one of the co-founders of the Energy System Analysis Group, maintaining extensive and close cooperation with Harvard University, Stanford University, Oxford University, and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, among others.
