北京大学能源研究院是成立于2020年5月的实体研究机构。能源研究院以国家能源发展战略需求为导向，立足能源领域全局及国际前沿，致力于打造具有国际水平的能源智库和能源科技研发推广平台。主要研究方向包括能源战略与政策、智慧能源、页岩油气、地热、新能源及能源国际合作等领域，初步形成了软硬结合的学科特色。并逐步搭建了以金之钧院士为首的教授、研究员、兼职教授、特聘研究员及博士后、博士等中青年学者组成的研究团队，并举办了应对气候变化“碳中和3060”论坛、“碳中和是中国社会经济发展新引擎”等活动，承担了国家发改委、国家能源局、中国工程院“双碳战略重大问题研究等相关课题。能源研究院充分发挥国际联系广泛的优势，与国际能源署、国际燃气联盟等机构，牛津大学、哥伦比亚大学、斯坦福大学等高校，埃克森美孚、壳牌等国际知名公司均开展了项目合作，建立了合作机制。

研究院全职教职工37人。兼职及双聘研究人员40位，挂靠应对气候变化及能源转型项目17人。北京大学鄂尔多斯能源研究院员工超过50人。

The Institute of Energy of Peking University (PKU) is a research entity established in May 2020. In alignment with thenational energy development strategy and with a focus on the broader energy sector and its international cutting edge,the institute aims to become a world-class energy think tank and R&D and promotion platform for energy technology.

Its key research areas include energy strategy and policy, smart energy, shale oil and gas, geothermal energy, newenergy, and international energy cooperation. The institute has established a disciplinary approach that combines softand hard science. Led by academician Jin Zhijun, the institute boasts a diverse research team comprising Professors,Research Fellows, Adjunct Professors, Distinguished Research Fellows, postdoctoral researchers, and doctoralcandidates. It has successfully organized some influential events, including the Carbon Neutrality 3060 Forum andCarbon Neutrality as a New Engine for China's Socio-economic Development. It has also undertaken some strategicallyimportant projects for carbon neutrality commissioned by esteemed organizations, such as the National Developmentand Reform Commission (NDRC), the National Energy Administration (NEA), and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Leveraging its extensive international network, the institute has forged collaborative ties with organizations such as the International Energy Agency, the International Gas Union, and renowned universities including Oxford, Columbia, andStanford. It has also established collaboration mechanisms with globally renowned companies such as ExxonMobil and Shell.

The institute has 37 full-time faculty members and 40 part-time and jointly appointed researchers, 17 of whom arealso affiliated with the Climate Change and Energy Transition Program. The Ordos Research Institute of Energy of PKUhas a staff of more than 50 professionals.
